My approach

I work as an Integrative Counsellor, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and tools to shape our work together. This allows me to tailor the therapy to your unique needs as one way of working doesn’t suit everyone.

My core training is in Person‑Centred Therapy, CBT, and Transactional Analysis, and I weave these together in a way that supports you as an individual.

At the heart of my approach is the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to offer the core conditions of empathy, acceptance, and genuineness, creating a space where you can explore your experiences safely and at your own pace.

Sometimes looking at past experiences — including childhood — can help you understand how certain patterns or feelings have developed. Gaining this awareness can open up new choices and possibilities for how you move forward.

My work is trauma‑informed, which means I pay close attention to safety, choice, and collaboration. The aim is never to re‑live the past, but to understand your story in a way that brings clarity, compassion, and new possibilities.

I am also committed to being neurodiversity‑affirming. I value and respect different ways of thinking, feeling, processing, and communicating, so that you can show up as your authentic self without pressure to mask or adapt.

Experience

Alongside my private practice, I’m part of a secondary school counselling team, supporting students with a wide range of emotional and wellbeing needs. I also run parent workshops and groups, creating a space for parents to reflect on their own mental health and feel more confident in supporting their children through the ups and downs of school life.

I have experience within a local community organisation offering counselling to adults experiencing a variety of mental health difficulties.

I’ve also volunteered with a charity supporting individuals affected by baby loss and birth trauma—an experience that has deeply shaped my understanding of grief, resilience, and the importance of compassionate support.

Across all of my roles, I’m committed to offering an inclusive, respectful, and accessible service. Every person’s story is unique, and I work with you to help make sense of your experiences, reconnect with your strengths, and move towards the changes that matter.
