ABOUT ME

Hello, I’m Jody,

A BACP registered and experienced Integrative Counsellor working with adults and adolescents and those affected by pregnancy related issues and birth trauma in South Manchester, Ashton on Mersey, Sale, M33.

Are you feeling anxious, stressed, worried, low in mood or just feeling out of sorts? Is how you are feeling affecting your relationships, work, self esteem or self confidence? Do you overthink, repeat the same patterns or struggle to regulate your emotions?

I am professional, approachable, warm and easy to talk to.  I will tailor sessions to suit you and your need’s, whilst providing you with a safe, accepting, non judgemental, confidential environment.

I will listen, support and empower you so you can develop a positive relationship with yourself and others.

I do this by helping you to understand yourself, your experiences, feelings and behaviours. I’ll ask questions, listen to your story, validate your experiences and share knowledge when necessary. 

My approach to counselling/therapy is Integrative, which means that I am trained to use CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Transactional Analysis (TA) and Person Centred Therapy. This allows me to offer an individual and unique service, after all we are all individual and one size doesn’t fit all.

I have worked with a variety of different different issues, including :

  • Pregnancy related issues and birth trauma

Training and Experience

I am an experienced Counsellor and a Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists.  (BACP)

  • My experience includes working within secondary and further education supporting students and staff with their well-being, offering educational supervision for staff and delivering workshops to students and parents.
  • I am a Make Birth Better champion and have experience working with those affected by pregnancy-related issues, traumatic birth, the loss of a baby and pregnancy-related mental health issues.
  • I have undertaken additional training and continuous professional development to work safely online.  I am also trained to work in a trauma informed way and have attended the John Wilson (Phd) grief and loss training.
  • I have worked within the local community with those who faced common emotional and mental wellness challenges including feelings of anxiety, trauma, stress, overwhelm, fear, anger and grief and loss.  
  • Training and CPD includes: Diploma in Counselling Young People, Therapeutic Integrative Counselling Diploma, Online and Telephone Counselling, NHS Working with Anxiety & Depression, Carolyn Spring Trauma training, Postnatal Depression Awareness Diploma, Birth Trauma education, Working in a Trauma Informed Way, Educational Supervision training, Understanding the teenage brain.
